First Light’s Run
Long and Short Term Pasture Boarding and Retirement

Where being put out to pasture is a good thing.

At First Light's Run we try to give your horse the most natural environment possible. All the horses are kept in small herds of 3 to 14 individuals, spread across 200 acres of lush, rolling Kentucky land. Herd size is determined by age and temperament. All horses have access to plenty of shade, ponds and automatic waterers, as well as free choice high quality minerals. We also provide grass and alfalfa hay as needed.

Loving Quality Care For Your Horse

At First Light's Run, your horse is treated like family. All horses receive daily hands-on attention to assure they are getting what they need. Hoofcare is provided every 6 weeks by certified barefoot trimmers, Steve Johnson and Julie Bell.

We have several veterinarians just minutes away in case of a rare emergency.

Short Term Horse Boarding

Whether your horse needs a place to recuperate, a temporary home while you are away, or your show horse is in need of some "R&R" during non-show months, our large pastures are just the place to stay. The stress free environment will help your horse to relax, recover and return home ready to get back to work.

Retirement Services: Caring For Your Beloved Horse

Your horse has taken good care of you over the years and the miles, now you can provide a relaxing, natural environment for his retirement years. As horses age or develop career ending injuries, their needs change, and sometimes that means a change of location. First Light's Run horse farm is a wonderful, caring place for your horse's senior years.

Former performance horses, trail horses, and backyard pets from around the country now call First Light's Run their forever home. We have boarders from age 6 to the mid 30s. We even had one horse that was with us until he was 44 years old.

Your horse will enjoy grazing with a small herd, yet still have people to interact with. We specialize in caring for the needs of the retirement horse. Years of experience ensures your horse's health and wellbeing will be maximized throughout their remaining years.
